The Gaza death toll has now gone over 53,000, according to reports from Al Jazeera and Anadolu Agency. In the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks have killed at least 143 more Palestinians across the Gaza Strip. More than 150 people were also injured.
Al Jazeera reported that early Thursday morning, Israel launched several airstrikes across Gaza. One of the attacks hit a medical clinic inside the Jabalia refugee camp. Witnesses said the top floor of the Al-Tawba clinic was destroyed. Patients were torn apart by the blast. Among the 13 people killed, some were children.
Anadolu Agency confirmed that since October 2023, the Gaza death toll has reached at least 53,010. This number came from the Gaza Health Ministry. The ministry also said nearly 120,000 people have been injured in the attacks. Rescue workers are still trying to reach people trapped under the rubble or lying in the streets. Many are unreachable due to the damage and ongoing danger.
The war began over 15 months ago. In January, Israel agreed to a ceasefire under pressure from the United States and others. For about two months, Gaza saw a brief period of calm. But that calm did not last long.
In March, talks between Israel and Hamas broke down. The issue was about the withdrawal of Israeli troops. Soon after, Israel restarted its bombing campaign. Since March 18, airstrikes have killed 2,876 more people and injured about 8,000 others. This new wave of attacks has broken the ceasefire agreement.
The Gaza death toll keeps growing as the strikes continue. Nearly 90% of Gaza’s people have lost their homes, according to the United Nations. Most of the region’s buildings are destroyed or badly damaged.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. They are charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity due to actions in Gaza.
Hospitals in Gaza are now full and struggling. There is not enough medicine or staff to help the injured. Many people cannot get treatment. Aid trucks face delays. Roads are blocked or unsafe.
Children are among the worst affected. Many have died or been injured. Some have lost their entire families. Schools, clinics, and shelters have been bombed. Life for children in Gaza will never be the same.
Despite worldwide protests and calls for peace, the violence has not stopped. Human rights groups call it genocide. Leaders from many countries have asked for a ceasefire, but no agreement has been made.
Each day, the Gaza death toll rises. Families are suffering. Homes are gone. Hope is fading. People are asking when this war will end and if peace will ever return.
The crisis in Gaza is a human tragedy. The world must act now. The killing must stop. The people of Gaza deserve to live in peace.
