A fresh leak suggests Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max may come with the largest battery in iPhone history. The new model, expected to be released in September, could feature a battery close to 5,000mAh. This would be a significant jump from the 4,676mAh battery in the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The leak comes from a source on Weibo known as Instant Digital. While not always accurate, this user has shared credible leaks before. According to their latest post, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be slightly thicker, allowing Apple to fit in the bigger battery.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25mm thick. Reports now suggest the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be about 8.725mm thick. This small increase of under 0.5mm may seem minor but could create room for more power.

Users have long hoped for better battery life. Even with new features and faster chips, longer use between charges remains one of the most requested improvements. A bigger battery would be a direct way to meet this demand.

Even though software and chip updates can help battery life, physical battery size often has the biggest impact. The rumored 5,000mAh battery would be around 7% larger than the one in the current model.

Some experts believe the new iPhone could last up to 35 hours on a full charge. Apple says the iPhone 16 Pro Max offers 33 hours of video playback. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max lasts 29 hours, and the 13 Pro Max lasts 28. The iPhone 12 Pro Max offered just 20 hours.

If the new model includes a 5,000mAh battery, it could become the longest-lasting iPhone ever. Still, experts remind users that battery size doesn’t always equal better battery life. Performance also depends on how the phone uses its power.

Reports suggest the iPhone 17 Pro Max may include new features like vapor chamber cooling. These updates may not drain much power, but other unknown features might. So while a larger battery is promising, the real-world results will depend on the whole design.

William Gallagher, a tech writer, noted that the rumored increase is about 324mAh. That’s a decent jump but not a guarantee of longer life unless the phone’s power use stays the same or improves.

This news comes as excitement builds ahead of Apple’s next product launch. With the release date expected in September, more details will likely emerge soon. Fans are already eager to see what else Apple has in store for the Pro Max series.

One thing is clear: battery life still matters most to many users. Even with powerful cameras and fast chips, a phone needs to last all day. If this leak proves true, Apple may finally deliver the battery upgrade users have been waiting for.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max battery leak gives hope to those who want more time between charges. With growing competition in the smartphone market, longer battery life could help Apple stay ahead.

For now, the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery rumor is still unconfirmed. But the buzz around a 5,000mAh power boost is strong — and for good reason.
