Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Israel’s defeat is certain due to the ongoing resistance led by Lebanon and other regional countries.
During a visit to Beirut on Tuesday, Araghchi paid tribute to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the late leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement. He visited Nasrallah’s burial site and laid a wreath.
Araghchi expressed confidence that the people of Lebanon and the resistance will achieve victory, and that Israel’s defeat is unavoidable. He referenced a famous saying from the founder of Iran’s Islamic Republic, emphasizing that the power of sacrifice will overcome military force.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah played a key role in Lebanon’s resistance against Israel. Before his assassination last September, he led Hezbollah’s fight against Israeli forces, contributing to Israel’s retreat in conflicts during 2000 and 2006.
Nasrallah’s death came amid heavy Israeli airstrikes on Beirut. These attacks were part of Israel’s intensified strikes against Lebanon starting in October 2023, which followed Hezbollah’s operations targeting Israeli sites. Those operations supported Palestinians in Gaza, who faced severe Israeli military action.
Araghchi said that Nasrallah’s death will strengthen the resistance, inspiring its members to continue their struggle more forcefully. He described Nasrallah’s legacy as alive and motivating for the resistance fighters.
Nasrallah was considered the backbone of the Axis of Resistance, a coalition opposing Israeli and Western influence in the Middle East. Under his leadership, Hezbollah grew into a powerful force capable of confronting Israeli military actions.
Tensions remain high in Lebanon and the surrounding region. Israel continues to see Hezbollah as a significant threat, while Hezbollah and its allies maintain their opposition to Israeli actions, citing support for Palestinians and defense of Lebanese territory.
Without diplomatic solutions, experts warn the violence could escalate further. Iran’s Foreign Minister reaffirmed the belief that Israel’s defeat is inevitable and praised the ongoing resistance efforts in Lebanon and beyond.
