Tanzania, Kenya, and South Africa took top honors at the 2025 Africa Travel Awards in Dar es Salaam. The event celebrated over 80 winners for their excellence in tourism and hospitality across the continent. The awards confirm Africa’s rising global status in travel innovation and destination quality.

The 2025 World Travel Awards for Africa launched in Dar es Salaam, bringing together top names in tourism and hospitality. The event highlighted the strength of African destinations and services in global travel. With more than 80 categories, the ceremony honored achievements in national parks, beach resorts, airlines, and eco-tourism.

Tanzania, as the host country, was a standout winner. Its world-renowned wildlife parks and luxury lodges gained global recognition. Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater won major awards, showcasing Tanzania’s continued focus on sustainable travel and conservation. Tourism leaders said the awards reflect years of investment in eco-friendly tourism that respects local communities and natural habitats.

Kenya also had a strong showing, with honors for its safari experiences and beach destinations. The Maasai Mara National Reserve won praise for its wildlife protection and tourist satisfaction. Kenya Airways received awards for regional service and in-flight experience. Tourism officials said these wins will support Kenya’s tourism recovery and boost its global image as a top travel choice.

South Africa gained recognition for both nature and city attractions. Cape Town was named one of Africa’s best urban destinations. The Cape Winelands and Kruger National Park won in their respective categories. Airlines, luxury lodges, and beach resorts from South Africa also received multiple awards. Tourism officials noted that South Africa’s mix of nature, culture, and urban life remains a strong draw for international visitors.

Zambia and Mozambique also earned key awards. Zambia’s Victoria Falls and national parks continue to impress tourists. Mozambique received honors for its quiet island escapes and marine conservation efforts. Officials from both countries said the awards will help bring global attention to lesser-known but high-potential destinations.

The 2025 ceremony was more than just a prize-giving event. It served as a major networking platform for industry leaders. Attendees included hotel owners, airline executives, travel agents, and tourism ministers. The event featured discussions on digital tools, sustainable practices, and marketing Africa as a luxury and adventure destination.

Organizers said the awards show Africa’s tourism sector is growing fast and competing globally. They noted that African destinations are now focusing more on quality, safety, and guest experience. Many countries are using tourism as a way to create jobs, boost local economies, and protect natural resources.

Experts added that the future of African tourism depends on smart planning and public-private partnerships. They highlighted the need for improved transport, digital systems, and eco-friendly operations. Leaders at the event agreed that collaboration across the continent will help Africa stand out in the global travel market.

The World Travel Awards, now in their 32nd year, are considered the top honor in the travel world. Each year, the awards spotlight excellence across airlines, hotels, destinations, and travel services. The 2025 Africa edition marked the start of a global series that will cover all continents.

Tourism officials from Tanzania said hosting the event has already brought attention and visitors to the country. Local businesses, hotels, and guides saw a sharp rise in activity during the week. Officials hope the awards will lead to more investment in the country’s growing tourism sector.

With top honors going to destinations across East and Southern Africa, the 2025 awards have made clear that the continent is more than ready to welcome the world. From wild safaris to coastal retreats and vibrant cities, Africa is offering unforgettable travel experiences backed by world-class service.

The strong presence of multiple African countries at the awards shows a shared commitment to tourism growth. Leaders across the region are working together to promote Africa as a must-visit destination. With rising global demand for unique and sustainable travel, Africa’s future in tourism looks brighter than ever.
