The Pittsburgh Steelers spoiled Aaron Rodgers’ return to Pittsburgh, defeating the Green Bay Packers 35-25 in Sunday Night Football. The game featured back-and-forth scoring, key turnovers, and crucial field goals that shaped the outcome.

The Packers received the opening kickoff after the Steelers deferred, and quarterback Jordan Love connected with Christian Watson and Josh Jacobs for short gains before punting. The Steelers responded quickly. Rodgers, playing for Pittsburgh, completed a deep 45-yard pass to Roman Wilson and later set up kicker Chris Boswell for a 56-yard field goal, giving Pittsburgh an early 3-0 lead.

Green Bay answered on their next drive. Love found Romeo Doubs for a 24-yard gain and later hit tight end Tucker Kraft for a 16-yard touchdown. After the extra point, the Packers led 7-3. Pittsburgh’s offense stalled on their following drive, forcing another Boswell field goal, trimming the deficit to 7-6.

Both teams traded possessions, with Pittsburgh taking advantage of consistent short gains by Jaylen Warren and catches by Metcalf. Boswell added a 48-yard field goal to give the Steelers a 9-7 lead. The first half ended with Rodgers finding Metcalf for a two-yard touchdown, putting Pittsburgh ahead 16-7 at the break.

The second half saw Green Bay make adjustments. Love connected repeatedly with Kraft, setting up a short touchdown pass to rookie Savion Williams. A successful extra point cut the Steelers’ lead to 16-14. Pittsburgh’s next possession was highlighted by a long pass to Metcalf, but a fumble was initially ruled a turnover before being overturned. Boswell then converted a 56-yard field goal, giving the Steelers a 19-14 advantage.

The Packers regained momentum in the third quarter. A deep pass from Love to Watson and a short rush from Jacobs set up a touchdown and two-point conversion, giving Green Bay a 22-19 lead. The Steelers were penalized for unnecessary roughness, making it harder to recover. Love then threw his third touchdown pass to Kraft, extending the Packers’ lead to 29-19.

Pittsburgh attempted to respond but faced setbacks, including a 3rd-and-17 situation and a sack by Rashan Gary. The Packers added a 32-yard field goal to push the lead to 32-19. Later, a fumble by Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell allowed the Packers to capitalize, adding another field goal and making it 35-19.

Rodgers and the Steelers managed a late touchdown with Roman Wilson scoring his first career NFL touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving Pittsburgh trailing 35-25. An onside kick attempt did not succeed, and Green Bay ran out the clock. Emmanuel Wilson sealed the win with late runs, and Love kneeled to end the game.

The game highlighted Pittsburgh’s effective field goal kicking, strong red-zone execution, and opportunistic defense, which created turnovers at critical moments. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers struggled with penalties, short drives, and missed opportunities that prevented a full comeback.

The Steelers improve their record with the win, while the Packers face challenges heading into their next match. Sunday’s contest showcased big plays, veteran quarterback action, and rookie contributions, making it a memorable night for fans in Pittsburgh.
