Croatia Airlines is preparing for a busy summer season with new routes and additional flights. The airline plans to boost capacity by adding Airbus A220 aircraft and increasing weekly departures. From April to October, the airline will increase weekly departures from 27 to 33 and add 7,900 to 9,900 additional seats during the peak summer months.
New Routes and More Flights
Croatia Airlines will restart flights to Berlin and Stockholm earlier this season, with the Berlin route beginning on April 1 and Stockholm on April 2. These routes were first launched in May 2024, but the airline is moving up the start date for this year.
Flights from Zagreb to Tirana will also begin on May 25, ahead of the original start date of June 14. Initially, there will be one weekly flight, which will increase to two weekly flights, and then to three weekly flights by July.
Several other popular routes will see more frequent services during the summer months. The Zagreb to Barcelona route will increase from three to four weekly flights. The Split to Istanbul route will expand from three to five weekly flights. The Split to Oslo and Berlin routes will double from one to two weekly flights. Additionally, the Dubrovnik to Prague route will see an increase from one to two weekly flights, while the Dubrovnik to Zurich route will increase from four to five weekly rotations.
Airbus A220 Aircraft to Boost Capacity
The addition of the Airbus A220 will allow the airline to replace older Dash 8 turboprops on several key routes, providing more seats and improved service. New destinations served by the A220 this summer will include Zagreb to Athens (via Dubrovnik), Zagreb to Brussels, Stockholm, Barcelona, Sarajevo, Skopje, Tirana, Rome (via Split or Dubrovnik), Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Zurich, and Split to Athens, Frankfurt, Munich, Oslo, Zurich, Berlin, Rome. Dubrovnik to Athens, Rome, Zurich, and Prague will also be served by the A220.
The Zagreb-Split route will experience the most significant capacity increase, despite the flight frequencies remaining largely unchanged. The A220 will help meet high demand for this route by offering more seating capacity.
Future Adjustments and Final Plans
While the schedule is set for most of the summer season, Croatia Airlines is still finalizing the details, so some flight frequencies and routes may change as the season progresses.
