Stanbic Bank Ghana has donated more than GH₴500,000 to three institutions as part of its effort to support human capital development in the country. The donations were made to Mawuli Senior High School, the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and the Ghana Police Training School. The bank says this move reflects its commitment to help Ghana grow by investing in people and their future.

Education Gets a Boost at Mawuli Senior High School

One part of the donation went to Mawuli Senior High School in the Volta Region. The 2000 Year Group of the school, in partnership with Stanbic Bank, received GH₴100,000. This money will be used to refurbish the White Block, a key building on the school campus.

The school is known for producing top-performing students. The donation is expected to improve learning conditions and motivate students to achieve more. Stanbic Bank believes that education is a strong pillar in building any nation.

University of Health and Allied Sciences Receives Equipment

Stanbic Bank also gave several electronic devices to UHAS to support digital learning. The donation included:

    • 10 laptops
    • 20 tablets
    • Two 85-inch high-definition televisions
    • Multi-purpose HD video cameras

This equipment will help teachers and students improve the quality of education, especially in practical and online learning. Prof. Lydia Aziato, Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, thanked the bank for the support and said the university still faces challenges like a shortage of hostels. She invited other private companies to offer support.

Support for Ghana Police Training School

Another part of the donation, GH₴141,000, went to the Ghana Police Training School. The funds will be used to improve training and help build the skills of police officers. This will allow them to serve the public better and maintain law and order more effectively.

Stanbic Bank says this is part of its larger goal of supporting national security through better education and capacity building. The training school is one of the key places where officers are prepared to serve in various roles across the country.

    Empowering People Beyond Financial Services

Harry Opoku Agyemang, Head of Personal Banking at Stanbic Bank, said the bank does more than offer financial services. It also works to improve people’s lives through training and education.

“We don’t just finance businesses. We invest in people,” he said. “This is how we help build Ghana.”

He also talked about the Financial Fitness Academy, an initiative by Stanbic Bank. Through this program, the bank trains workers from various institutions on how to manage money wisely. Topics include saving, budgeting, and responsible spending.

The program is designed to help people make the most of their income. According to Mr. Agyemang, many people earn well but struggle with managing their money. The training aims to fix this problem and improve financial literacy.

Private Sector Urged to Do More

Prof. Aziato from UHAS said Stanbic Bank’s donation shows how powerful public-private partnerships can be. She called on other companies to follow Stanbic’s example and help improve education, health, and security in Ghana.

“We appreciate the support and urge others in the private sector to do the same. Together, we can solve the challenges we face,” she said.

    A Long-Term Commitment to Growth

Stanbic Bank Ghana says its donations are not one-time acts. The bank plans to continue supporting communities in the areas of education, health, and security. The goal is to help build a strong, well-educated, and safe Ghana.

This commitment fits into the bank’s larger message: “Ghana is our home; we drive her growth.”
