Dak Prescott threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 33-16 on Monday night. This was Dallas’ first game since the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, who passed away earlier this month at age 24.

Kneeland died on November 6. Before kickoff, Cowboys players and coach Brian Schottenheimer honored him with shirts and a moment of silence. Prescott, whose brother Jace died in 2020, said, “It was a blessing to be on the field. This is where healing happens for me. We love Marshawn and will continue to shine a light for him.”

The Cowboys (4-5-1) delivered one of their best performances of the season. They had lost three of their previous four games but managed a controlled and confident victory. Upcoming games against Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Detroit remain crucial for maintaining playoff hopes.

Las Vegas (2-8) continues to struggle under first-year head coach Pete Carroll. The Raiders have now lost eight of nine games, including four straight. Their unbalanced offensive approach in the first half highlighted their difficulties. Geno Smith and the Raiders attempted 32 passes and only three runs, one of the fewest first-half rushing totals in team history.

Prescott was precise throughout the night, completing 25 of 44 passes. He connected mainly with George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb. Pickens had nine catches for 144 yards and a touchdown, while Lamb added five receptions for 66 yards and a score. Their early benching for the Cowboys’ first drive did not slow their impact on the game. Running back Javonte Williams provided balance with 93 rushing yards on 22 carries. Prescott’s four touchdown passes tied his season high, matching his performance from October 5 against the New York Jets.

Dallas’ defense ensured Smith had limited opportunities. They sacked him four times, including 1.5 by recent acquisition Quinnen Williams. Williams, acquired in a major trade with the Jets, added immediate pressure, showing the Cowboys’ defensive depth. The Raiders finished with just 12 rushing attempts, tied for the 12th fewest in franchise history. Smith completed 27 of 42 passes for 238 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but the Cowboys’ defensive scheme effectively stifled Las Vegas’ offense.

The Cowboys wore blue T-shirts with Kneeland’s name, years of life (2001–2025), and the team’s star logo beneath his image. A decal of his number, 94, was added to the back of their helmets for the season. At the stadium, a locker was prepared in Kneeland’s honor, with his jersey displayed on a coat hanger. His photo appeared on video boards during the moment of silence, allowing teammates and fans to remember him before the game.

The Cowboys’ tribute highlighted the importance of mental health awareness. For those struggling, support resources include Mental Health America in the US (988), Beyond Blue in Australia (1300 22 4636), Lifeline Australia (13 11 14), MensLine (1300 789 978), and Mind in the UK (0300 123 3396).

The victory offered a moment of healing for the Cowboys while honoring Kneeland’s life and contributions to the team. Prescott’s leadership and the team’s strong performance demonstrated their resilience in the face of tragedy, setting a tone of unity and hope for the remainder of the season.
