The Galgorm Hotel Collection is growing in Northern Ireland, offering options for families and couples. Owned by the Hill family, the group turned the original Galgorm Resort into a top spa destination in the UK and Ireland. Recently, they added Roe Valley Resort in Limavady to their portfolio, aiming to create a family-friendly resort on the north coast.
Roe Valley Resort is just over an hour from Belfast and two hours from Dublin. Purchased in late 2024, the resort plans to add pool slides, playgrounds, and kids’ entertainment. During a recent visit, a spacious family room overlooking a golf course was comfortable and clean. The only issue was slow WiFi, which is expected to improve. The pool was already popular with children, even without the new slides.
Dinner at the Coach House restaurant offered views of the golf course. The staff provided coloring materials for children, making the experience pleasant for families. The food was good, with tasty steaks and many options on the kids’ menu.
After breakfast, a visit to Crindle Stables gave children a chance to try horse-riding in a safe environment. Back at the hotel, a golf lesson with instructor Shaun Devenney helped improve playing skills, while the family enjoyed a walk in nearby Roe Valley Country Park.
Roe Valley is close to the Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, popular spots on the north coast. The family also visited Portrush, known for its seaside resort and entertainment.
For a romantic break, the original Galgorm Resort offers a luxury experience 40 minutes from Belfast. The deluxe rooms feature thoughtful touches like a cold water tap, though some technology is outdated. The Spa Village has outdoor hot tubs, saunas, and plunge pools. Guests can enjoy massages and riverside hot tubs.
Dinner at Fratellis, the resort’s Italian restaurant, includes gluten-free options and local ingredients. The nearby Castle Bar serves cocktails, though prices are high. Breakfast offers a variety of fresh and warm foods.
The resort’s location makes it easy to visit coastal villages like Carnlough and Glenarm for local seafood and sea air.
