Beth Jin, a small village in Syria, is mourning after a deadly Israeli military raid killed 13 people in the early hours of Friday. Residents, officials, and dignitaries from nearby areas gathered to pay respects as the community began its days of grief.

The attack transformed the quiet village into a front line overnight. Streets are littered with bullet shells, walls are scarred with gunfire, and shrapnel covers the school playground. Residents say the operation involved Israeli soldiers on the ground, drones overhead, artillery fire, and air strikes.

One villager described the moment of attack. “We were all sleeping when we heard gunfire. At first, we thought it was a wedding celebration. Then we saw the Israeli soldiers. There was an explosion, and I was hit in the leg. Some were wounded and pulled up to a helicopter with a rope,” the resident said.

Local sources report that several men were detained during the raid, which Damascus condemned as abductions. “My two cousins and my neighbor were taken by the Israelis. I saw them from my window. Then the soldiers started firing at my house,” said a villager.

Residents say that young men, frustrated by repeated incursions, attempted to resist the military operation. Six Israeli soldiers were reportedly injured during clashes, prompting Israel to respond with additional artillery and air strikes. Even the mosque’s minaret was damaged.

Inside one home, Gazwan Hamada recounted his family’s near-death experience. “I have nothing but this house. I live here with my eight children and care for an orphan girl. We heard drones, then helicopters and warplanes. A rocket hit this room. We hid in the next room. Artillery also shelled the village. We have no fighters, no militants, no weapons here,” he said.

The raid has sent shockwaves across Syria, a country still trying to rebuild after a 14-year civil war. Many residents hoped that the new administration would bring stability, but Israeli incursions have sparked fears of renewed violence. The attack has left the small community traumatized, homes damaged, and families grieving.

Muhammad, a resident of Beth Jin, shared the devastating impact on his family. “My two brothers, my sister-in-law, and my two nephews were killed. I call on the government to protect its people. The Israelis entered our village many times. People defended themselves, but they need someone to defend them too,” he said.

Authorities in Syria are now under growing pressure to respond to repeated Israeli military actions. Residents fear more raids, which could further destabilize the area and challenge the government’s efforts to rebuild peace, unity, and sovereignty.

The attack in Beth Jin highlights the ongoing tensions in Syria’s border regions and the vulnerability of civilian communities. Despite efforts to recover from years of war, villages like Beth Jin remain at risk from cross-border military operations.

For many, the raid is a painful reminder that conflict continues even in areas that were once considered peaceful. The destruction of homes, injuries, and loss of life have left deep scars on the community, creating urgent calls for protection and justice.

The situation underscores the fragile state of Syria’s recovery. Villages like Beth Jin are in urgent need of humanitarian aid and government protection as they try to recover from yet another violent incident. Residents are demanding accountability and security as they mourn those lost in the raid.

As Beth Jin begins its days of mourning, the wider region watches closely. The raid may become a significant test for the Syrian government’s ability to protect civilians, maintain stability, and respond effectively to external military aggression.
