Lala Kent opened up on her iHeart Radio podcast Untraditionally Lala about a “rare reaction” to a bug bite she experienced during a trip to Hawaii.
The 35-year-old reality star described waking up with itchy bites on her chest and back that worsened over time. “They were f—ing boils. Yeah, disgusting,” Kent said, noting the boils were oozing.
A medical professional examined her while wearing a hazmat suit and lanced the boils for testing. Results ruled out bacterial infections, staph, chicken pox, or monkey pox. Concerned about scarring, Kent consulted a dermatologist and was prescribed steroids, steroid creams, antibiotics, and oral steroids.
Ultimately, tests showed the reaction was a rare response to a bug bite rather than an infection like Bethenny Frankel recently experienced in St. Barth’s. Kent described herself as “patient zero” and emphasized the severity of her reaction, calling it “full-blown disgusting.”
The incident highlights the unexpected health risks travelers can face from seemingly minor bug bites, even in popular vacation spots like Hawaii.
