The Nebraska volleyball record reached a new milestone Friday as the top-ranked Huskers defeated UCLA in four sets, 25-17, 25-23, 19-25, 25-15. The win improved Nebraska’s season record to 25-0 and came in front of a record-breaking crowd of 10,498 at Pauley Pavilion, the largest ever for volleyball at the arena.
This victory marks Nebraska as the only undefeated team in the nation. The Huskers’ streak of 48 consecutive set wins ended with a third-set loss, their first since September 16. Despite this minor setback, Nebraska dominated the match and reinforced their position as a leading force in college volleyball.
Nebraska’s fans have set attendance records repeatedly this season. The team has played in seven matches this year and 19 since 2023 that broke arena attendance marks. In Big Ten play, Nebraska’s visiting games also set records at Michigan, Michigan State, Rutgers, and UCLA’s historic basketball home. The previous record for volleyball attendance at Pauley Pavilion was 7,200.
The Huskers will next face USC on Sunday at the Galen Center, which is sold out for the first time in its history for a volleyball match.
Junior middle blocker Andi Jackson led Nebraska with 15 kills and an impressive .625 hitting efficiency. Jackson, along with outside hitter Harper Murray and setter Bergen Reilly, are among 14 semifinalists for the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Year. The award will be announced on December 19, around the time of the NCAA semifinals and championship match in Kansas City, Missouri.
Nebraska has maintained the nation’s top home attendance for 11 consecutive years. The program has sold out 349 straight matches at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, demonstrating the team’s consistent popularity and support.
Under first-year coach Dani Busboom Kelly, the Huskers are aiming for a sixth national championship and their first since 2017. Busboom Kelly has a storied history with Nebraska, winning a title as a player in 2006 and as an assistant coach in 2015. She also guided Louisville to national championship appearances in 2022 and 2024.
The Huskers’ combination of talent, coaching, and fan support has helped them maintain an unbroken winning streak while making history with record-setting crowds. Nebraska volleyball continues to set a high standard for college volleyball programs across the country.
With strong performances from Jackson, Murray, Reilly, and the rest of the team, Nebraska’s undefeated run remains the talk of the nation. Fans can expect more thrilling matches as the Huskers pursue another national title under Busboom Kelly’s leadership.
