The Sparks kept their energy high and never slowed down in a strong 99-80 victory against the Washington Mystics. The game was filled with fast plays, tough defense, and teamwork that showed the Sparks’ best basketball this season.

As the first half neared its end, Dearica Hamby made a dramatic shot. The ball hit the front rim and looked like it would bounce out. But the spin on the ball carried it back to the rim. After bouncing twice more, it finally fell in. Hamby fell with the ball, and her teammates rushed to celebrate. The crowd at Crypto.com Arena went wild as Hamby’s shot capped a great half.

Hamby scored 18 points in just 20 minutes. Kelsey Plum also had a big night with 14 points, and Rickea Jackson added nine. Azurá Stevens scored eight. Julie Allemand led the team with eight assists, helping the ball move smoothly across the court.

Coach Lynne Roberts praised Rae Burrell’s energy, calling her the “Energizer Bunny.” Burrell made a strong impact on both ends of the floor. She stole two passes, setting up teammates and scoring a layup herself. Her energy helped the team play aggressive defense and limit the Mystics to just 12 points in the second quarter.

The Sparks held the Mystics’ rookie stars, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, to just two points combined. These two are set to play in the All-Star Game this weekend.

Kelsey Plum, who will compete in the All-Star three-point contest, started the game hot. She scored nine points on a perfect four-for-four shooting start, including a three-pointer. Plum also helped her teammates by passing well and finished with six assists.

The Sparks kept their lead through the game, never allowing the Mystics to catch up. With this win, the Sparks improved their record to 8-14 and entered the All-Star break with a strong confidence boost.
