YouTube has launched its new 2025 Recap feature, offering users a detailed look at their video-watching habits over the past year. Unlike previous annual summaries, which focused mainly on music and gaming, the revamped Recap now covers broader insights into a user’s full viewing history.
“YouTube Recap highlights your interests, favorite channels, and viewing patterns over the past year,” the platform said in a press release. “You’ll receive up to 12 cards that show your top channels, key interests, and even which personality type best fits your watching habits.”
The feature is now available for North American users and will roll out globally later this week. To access it, users must be signed into their YouTube account. On the app, the Recap can be found under the “You” tab, just below profile details, with a banner labeled “Your Recap is here.” Alternatively, it can be accessed on a browser at youtube.com/Recap.
Certain restrictions apply. Children under 13, supervised accounts, or users with paused watch history or auto-delete settings are not eligible.
YouTube Recap categorizes users into at least 11 personality types based on their viewing habits. For example, users who watched skill-building content may be labeled “Skill Builder,” while those drawn to positive or uplifting videos could be classified as “Sunshiner.” Other personality types include Adventurer, Creative Spirit, Wonder Seeker, Philosopher, and Dreamer.
The feature also integrates YouTube Music data. Users who listened to at least 10 hours of music will see a card summarizing their top tracks, along with a link to a more detailed music recap.
Alongside the personalized Recap, YouTube also released its global “End of the Year” lists for 2025. Top trending topics included Squid Game, Roblox user-generated experiences, KPop Demon Hunters, and Blue Lock. MrBeast was the most-watched creator, followed by CaylusBlox, IShowSpeed, and Double Date. Popular podcasts included The Joe Rogan Experience, Good Mythical Morning, and 48 Hours.
Top songs on YouTube Shorts featured “YOUR WAY’S BETTER” by Forrest Frank, “Passo Bem Solto” by ATLXS, and “Soda Pop” by Saja Boys, while main YouTube streams highlighted hits like “Die With A Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, and “Luther” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
YouTube’s 2025 Recap gives users an interactive way to explore their year in video, celebrating everything from favorite creators to emerging trends, and providing a personalized snapshot of their unique viewing experience.
