Saudi Arabia’s national airline will begin direct flights between Riyadh and Moscow starting October 1, 2025. The move comes as more Saudi tourists are choosing Russia as a travel destination. The service will include three flights each week.

The new flight plan is a response to growing tourism between the two nations. Recent reports show a sharp rise in the number of Saudi visitors to Russia. Many travelers are now taking advantage of easier visa rules.

In August 2023, Russia launched a simple electronic visa system. This system allows Saudi citizens to apply for a visa online. It has helped increase travel in a short time. In 2024, over 52,000 Saudis visited Russia. That’s a massive jump from only 9,300 the year before.

In the first half of 2025, more than 9,900 Saudis have already visited Moscow. This is 50% more than the same period last year. Tourism experts say this trend is likely to continue.

Russian officials say the electronic visa system played a key role in this growth. The online process has made it much easier for travelers to get approval. Visitors can now apply without going to an embassy or consulate.

The upcoming flight route will be managed by Saudia, the Kingdom’s main airline. With three flights every week, it will offer travelers more flexibility. The direct service will cut travel time and remove the need for stopovers.

Analysts say this move is part of a wider push to improve ties between Saudi Arabia and Russia. Both countries are working on stronger links in culture, business, and tourism. Officials in both capitals have welcomed the growing cooperation.

The flight launch also supports the Kingdom’s tourism goals. Saudi Arabia wants more of its citizens to explore global travel. At the same time, it is working to attract tourists to visit the Kingdom.

Direct air routes are one way to achieve this. They make it easier for travelers to visit new places and enjoy smooth journeys. This also supports the national travel industry.

The timing of the new service is seen as ideal. Interest in travel from Saudi Arabia to Russia has never been higher. Many Saudis are now visiting Russian cities for leisure, shopping, and cultural experiences.

With Russia easing its visa process and Saudia offering direct flights, travel between the two nations is expected to increase even more. Travel agencies in both countries are preparing new packages to meet demand.

This development also reflects a global trend. More people now choose to travel to less traditional places. Russia is becoming a top choice for Saudis looking for new destinations.

By launching this direct route, Saudia is tapping into a fast-growing market. It also sends a clear signal about the airline’s plans to expand its network. The company has already opened new international routes this year.

Passengers on the Riyadh-Moscow route will be able to enjoy a non-stop experience. This will save time and offer more comfort. The airline will operate modern aircraft with in-flight entertainment and services.

More details about ticket prices and flight schedules will be shared soon. Bookings are expected to open in the coming weeks. Travel experts recommend early booking due to strong interest.

Observers say the move is more than just about flights. It shows deeper cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Russia. The two countries are now exploring more ways to work together.

As ties grow stronger, both sides expect to see more student exchanges, trade deals, and cultural visits. Tourism is just one area showing fast results.

The new flight route is expected to support these goals. It makes travel easier, supports business, and helps people connect across borders.

With this step, Saudia is adding to the global push for better air travel. The Riyadh-Moscow route is just the beginning. More direct services may follow in the near future.
