New Zealand’s rugby team is continuing its preparations for the 2027 World Cup, with coach Dave Rennie insisting that the All Blacks should remain committed to their attacking style. Recent wins over Australia have given the team confidence, but Rennie knows that the world’s strongest sides will test the approach in different ways.

The All Blacks have traditionally been known for speed, skill and quick movement of the ball. Their latest performances have shown how they can use width and pace to create scoring chances. Rennie believes those qualities should remain central to the team’s identity, even when opponents attempt to slow the game or put pressure on their defence.

New Zealand faces a range of challenges before the tournament. Players must remain fit, combinations need time to develop and the coaching staff must decide which squad offers the best balance. International rugby leaves little room for mistakes, and a promising attacking plan can fail if the team gives away possession or loses control in key moments.

South Africa provides an example of a different path to success. The Springboks often rely on powerful forwards, disciplined defence and strong physical play. Rennie has acknowledged that this approach can work, but he does not believe New Zealand should simply copy it. Instead, he wants the All Blacks to improve their own methods.

Australia is also working towards the next World Cup, which it will host. Despite recent defeats, Wallabies coach Les Kiss has said he sees encouraging signs in the team’s development. Australia must improve its consistency and manage injuries if it wants to challenge the leading sides.

The next World Cup will place pressure on both teams to deliver in front of large crowds. Hosting the tournament can bring major attention to rugby and provide an opportunity to grow the sport. It also creates expectations from supporters who want their national team to perform well.

New Zealand’s immediate task is to turn recent victories into lasting progress. The coaching staff will study mistakes, test combinations and work on ways to handle opponents who can match its pace. Maintaining an attacking identity will matter, but flexibility and discipline will be just as important.

Rennie’s message is that the All Blacks should not abandon what makes them dangerous. The months ahead will show whether the team can keep its style effective against the world’s best opponents. For now, New Zealand is aiming to build confidence and consistency before the biggest test arrives.
