A new direct flight from Montreal to Belize is set to change how European travelers reach the Central American destination. Starting December 8, 2025, Air Canada will operate a nonstop service between Montreal-Trudeau International Airport and Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City. This marks the first direct link between Montreal and Belize, offering same-day travel from Europe through a single connection. The move is expected to boost Belize’s growing appeal among European visitors, making the journey shorter, easier, and more affordable.

The new route will run once a week. Flights will leave Montreal each Monday in the late afternoon and return from Belize every Tuesday in the late morning. Air Canada Rouge will operate the service using an Airbus A319. The aircraft includes 12 Premium Rouge seats and 124 Economy Class seats. The addition of this new route strengthens Belize’s connectivity with Canada. It complements the existing service from Toronto and provides travelers with more flexible options. More importantly, it creates a direct link for European travelers who connect through Montreal.

Thanks to Air Canada’s global network, this route enables one-stop travel from 23 European cities. Major hubs like Paris, London, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt now connect to Belize in a single day. It also includes convenient options from smaller cities such as Lisbon, Athens, Milan, Dublin, and Vienna. The Belize Tourism Board believes this flight will have a strong impact on the European market. According to officials, the new route creates fresh opportunities for visitors to explore Belize’s beauty, history, and vibrant culture with greater ease.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism, said the goal is to grow the European market while maintaining strong ties with Canadian travelers. He noted that quicker access and more affordable travel will encourage more people to visit. Air Canada echoed this view. Alexandre Lefevre, Vice President of North American Network Planning, described Belize as a top travel destination. He said the route from Montreal opens doors for more visitors to experience the country’s unique appeal.

Belize is gaining global attention for its natural wonders and cultural experiences. The Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts thousands of snorkelers and scuba divers each year. The country is also known for its adventure tourism, with activities like zip-lining, cave tubing, and jungle hikes. Mayan archaeological sites remain a key draw for cultural tourists. For couples and honeymooners, Belize offers luxury resorts and beach escapes. The country has become a favorite for eco-tourists and luxury travelers alike.

In 2024, Belize reached a record 562,405 overnight visitors. This was a 21% increase over 2023 and nearly 12% above 2019 levels before the pandemic. European travelers made up 10% of all international visitors. The United States continues to lead, contributing 69% of arrivals. To make travel easier, Belize has launched a new electronic arrival system. Visitors can now complete immigration and customs forms online for free. A secure mobile app is also available for use before arrival, speeding up the entry process.

Tickets for the new Montreal–Belize route are now available. Travelers can book through Air Canada’s website or authorized travel agencies. The launch of this route marks a major step in improving access to Belize for international tourists, especially those from Europe. As demand for Belize continues to grow, this new flight is set to play a key role in attracting more travelers. With direct access, stunning scenery, and a smooth arrival process, Belize is more reachable than ever for European and Canadian tourists.
