As the college football playoff approaches, Alabama players say their attention is locked firmly on the field, not on outside talk about their head coach. Recent rumors linking head coach Kalen DeBoer to a high-profile coaching vacancy have circulated widely on social media, but players insist the noise has not affected their preparation.

The Alabama Football Focus inside the program remains clear and steady. Players say their priority is the upcoming playoff matchup against Oklahoma, a game that carries major stakes for the season and the program’s goals.

Sophomore wide receiver Ryan Williams said DeBoer has not spent time addressing the rumors with the team. According to Williams, that lack of focus on speculation has helped players stay grounded and unified.

Williams explained that the team’s mindset is centered on trust. He said DeBoer continues to show full commitment to the players and their development. Because of that, the team feels confident moving forward and believes outside talk should not influence performance.

When asked whether questions about coaching rumors are difficult during a playoff run, Williams made it clear the team is not concerned. He said players are focused on their daily work, meetings, and practices, not headlines.

Since arriving at Alabama, DeBoer has quickly restored momentum to the program. After a 9-4 season that fell just short of the playoffs, Alabama is now back in the national picture. Players credit consistent coaching, clear expectations, and strong preparation for the turnaround.

DeBoer’s career history also supports the confidence players have in him. He previously led Washington to a national title game appearance and found success at Fresno State. That experience, players say, shows in how the team is run day to day.

Redshirt sophomore linebacker Yhonzae Pierre said the rumors have not distracted the locker room. While players are aware of what is being said online, Pierre said it has not changed how the team approaches practice or preparation.

Offensive lineman Wilkin Formby said avoiding social media entirely is difficult, even for players who try to stay offline. He admitted seeing a few posts about the situation but said nothing about DeBoer’s behavior has changed.

Formby explained that practices remain intense and focused. He said DeBoer continues to coach the same way, communicate clearly, and push players to improve. Because of that consistency, Formby said he does not see a reason to believe rumors matter.

Friday marked Alabama’s first official playoff practice after a week of meetings and planning. Players described the atmosphere as sharp and energized, with a clear focus on execution and discipline.

Linebacker Justin Jefferson said he is not paying attention to any rumors at all. He said his only concern is what happens inside the team facility, during meetings, and on the practice field.

Jefferson explained that the team feels united and motivated. He said players are confident in their preparation and eager for the challenge ahead against Oklahoma. According to Jefferson, the mindset is simple: stay together, trust the process, and play with intensity.

The Alabama Football Focus, players say, is built on internal trust rather than outside approval. Leaders within the team emphasize communication, effort, and accountability. That approach has helped keep distractions to a minimum during a critical point in the season.

As Alabama prepares for its playoff matchup, players believe ignoring outside noise gives them an edge. They say the ability to stay locked in reflects the culture DeBoer has helped create.

With a spot in the playoffs on the line, Alabama players say their message is clear. Rumors will come and go, but their focus remains on preparation, teamwork, and winning the next game.
