Millions gathered at Tehran’s Revolution Square on Saturday morning to bid farewell to the nation’s martyrs. A state funeral was held to honor those who died in 12 days of fierce conflict. The mourners included military leaders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary citizens who lost their lives.
Each coffin was covered with flowers, the national flag, and photos of the fallen. Grief-stricken families touched the coffins, tears streaming as they said their last goodbyes.
The crowd expressed strong unity in the face of crisis. Many declared that the country stands firm together during times of danger. They warned that any violation of war rules will be met with even stronger retaliation. “Our martyrs’ blood demands justice,” one mourner said. “Some only seek their own benefit and wish for our destruction. We will not allow that.”
The state funeral honored the Quds Force General Salami, General Hajizadeh, Brigadier General Bagheri, and 16 nuclear scientists. High-ranking officials were present, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and former security adviser Ali Shamkhani. The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was absent, but his close commander Esmail Qaani attended.
Esmail Qaani stated that Tehran has achieved success since the first day of the conflict. This emotional moment reflected national pride and resilience.
President Masoud Pezeshkian posted on social media that the blood of the martyrs sends a message of Iran’s unity to the world.
At the state mourning ceremony, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke about the heavy loss caused by the Israeli attacks. He said, “The death of our people is painful and difficult. Their memory will live forever.”
