Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera and Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported the attacks on Tuesday (May 13). The Israeli airstrikes were part of Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza, which have intensified since March 18.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said that 94 people were also injured in the past 24 hours. Many of the injured are in critical condition. The total number of wounded in Gaza has now reached 119,648 since October 2023.
In their official statement, the Health Ministry added that many people are still trapped under the rubble of bombed buildings. Rescue teams have not been able to reach them due to the heavy damage and continuous airstrikes.
Since the war began in October last year, at least 52,862 Palestinians have died, according to the latest figures. This includes thousands of women and children. Many of the strikes have hit residential buildings, markets, schools, and hospitals.
From March 18, a fresh wave of airstrikes began after a brief period of calm. The new attacks came after disagreements between Hamas and Israel over the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
The current offensive has already killed 2,749 people and injured over 7,600 more. These strikes have broken the ceasefire deal made in January 2025 under pressure from the United States and other global powers.
Earlier, in November last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. They were accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
In addition, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its military actions in the region. Despite growing international pressure, the attacks have not stopped.
