Google has launched its 10th-generation smartphones: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. These new devices are powered by the latest Google Tensor G5 chip and Gemini Nano model. The new Pixel phones focus on personalization, AI features, and smarter performance. They also come with a refreshed design and multiple hardware upgrades.
The Pixel 10 series improves on the classic camera bar design. All models feature Pixelsnap for Qi2 wireless charging and support a range of magnetic accessories. Google says these are made with the most recycled materials in a Pixel phone so far. The phones use Material 3 Expressive, Google’s latest interface. It adds fluid animations and smooth interactions. Users will also get seven years of Pixel Drops, along with OS and security updates. The standard Pixel 10 has a satin-finish metal frame and polished glass back. It comes in four colors: Obsidian, Frost, Indigo, and Lemongrass. The 6.3-inch Actua display is brighter than before, with 3000 nits of peak brightness. Audio is also improved, with deeper bass for shows, videos, and music.
Pixel 10 introduces significant camera improvements. It is the first in its tier to include a 5x telephoto lens with fast autofocus. Optical quality reaches 10x, and Super Res Zoom allows up to 20x digital zoom. Pixel 10 Pro offers a premium experience with the brightest Super Actua displays. The triple rear camera system is Google’s best yet. It is available in two sizes: 6.3 inches and 6.8 inches for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Color options include Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade. Pro Res Zoom enables up to 100x zoom on the Pro models. Both Pro models have larger batteries, upgraded speakers, 16 GB RAM, and faster wired charging. The Pixel 10 Pro XL also supports 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging.
The Tensor G5 chip is Google’s most powerful silicon to date. It delivers faster performance and supports new AI features. The Gemini Nano model runs on Tensor G5, enabling advanced on-device generative AI. One new feature is Magic Cue, which proactively helps users in apps like Messages and Phone. It can show relevant information automatically, such as flight details during a call or addresses for dinner plans. Magic Cue works securely on-device, using Tensor G5 and Gemini Nano models.
Pixel 10 also adds Camera Coach, which guides users to improve their photos. It suggests better framing, composition, and other tips for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Pro Res Zoom on the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL lets users capture highly detailed photos up to 100x zoom. The feature uses Tensor G5 and generative AI to refine details. This is the largest AI model ever applied to Pixel Camera and provides exceptional zoom quality.
All three phones are available for preorder now. Prices start at $799 for Pixel 10, $999 for Pixel 10 Pro, and $1,199 for Pixel 10 Pro XL. Pro model owners receive a full year of Google AI Pro. The devices will be available in stores and online on August 28. Users can check availability and sign up for updates through Google Store.
