Three Moroccan researchers from Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) have made a remarkable achievement at the 15th edition of the International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME 2025). The prestigious event, held from February 16 to 19 in Kuwait, honored them with the Grand Gold Medal with Jury Honor for their groundbreaking technological innovation.

    Innovative Document Security Technology

The Moroccan research team, consisting of Hafid Griguer, Younes Zaarour, and Rafiq El Alami, gained global recognition for their advanced invention focused on securing documents using digital identities. Their solution, powered by an innovative technology known as T3, ensures document authenticity and prevents unauthorized alterations or forgeries.

T3 technology integrates digital authentication with physical identity, allowing a seamless combination of traditional paper documents and modern digital security measures. This innovation provides an additional layer of protection, significantly reducing risks associated with document fraud.

    Global Recognition and Awards

The cutting-edge document authentication technology has not only won accolades at IIFME 2025 but has also been recognized on the international stage. In 2024, it was selected as one of the best technological advancements at the World Summit Awards (WSA), a platform that honors digital innovations that contribute to global development.

On LinkedIn, Hafid Griguer expressed immense pride in receiving this recognition. He emphasized that their invention, developed by SensThings, introduces a revolutionary approach to document security. By integrating digital certification with phygital identity, the technology acts as a powerful safeguard against counterfeiting and fraudulent activities.

Furthermore, their invention earned the Grand Prize of the Arab Labor Organization, an entity under the League of Arab States. This distinction highlights its significant role in advancing technological and administrative frameworks across the region.

    Recognition on an International Platform

The award ceremony at IIFME 2025 was attended by high-profile dignitaries, including a representative of the Crown Prince of Kuwait, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Morocco’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Ali Benaissa. Their presence underscored the importance of such technological advancements in shaping the future of digital security.

    A Testament to Moroccan Innovation

For Griguer and his team, this recognition serves as a testament to Morocco’s growing influence in the global technological landscape. Their work highlights the country’s potential in fostering innovation and developing solutions that have far-reaching implications in various industries, including government administration, finance, and education.

Morocco has increasingly positioned itself as a leader in technological innovation, with institutions like UM6P playing a crucial role in research and development. The success of Griguer, Zaarour, and El Alami at IIFME 2025 reinforces the nation’s commitment to technological excellence and innovation.

The team’s breakthrough in document security is expected to pave the way for further advancements in the field. With growing concerns over document fraud and identity theft, solutions like T3 could become vital in various sectors, ensuring greater security and reliability in official documentation.
