Thailand celebrated the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Suthida on June 3, 2025, with a special steam train journey launched by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). The train ran between Bangkok and Chachoengsao and returned to the capital the same day.

The journey began at Hua Lamphong Station in Bangkok. Thakoon Intarachom, Deputy Governor of the SRT, led the departure ceremony. The event brought together railway staff, tourists, and members of the public to take part in this unique tribute.

The steam train ride was more than a simple trip. It was designed to show love and respect for the Queen’s service to the Thai people. Her Majesty is known for her strong efforts to support royal projects that benefit the nation, including those in healthcare, education, and public welfare.

By offering this historic ride, the SRT aimed to honor the Queen while promoting cultural awareness and tourism. The event gave passengers a rare chance to experience travel on a steam train. These trains are not often seen today, making the event both symbolic and special.

The route between Bangkok and Chachoengsao is one of Thailand’s oldest rail lines. The ride gave travelers a glimpse into the past while also showing the beauty of the Thai countryside. Along the way, passengers could see temples, local markets, and traditional villages.

Chachoengsao is a province full of cultural landmarks and popular tourist spots. It is known for Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan, the Ban Mai Market, and various local food specialties. The train journey helped draw attention to these sites and encouraged more people to visit the area.

Tickets for the event sold out quickly. All available seats were booked soon after the reservation system opened. This strong demand shows how popular heritage tourism has become. More travelers are now seeking experiences that connect them with history and local culture.

The SRT has been working to support these types of experiences. By restoring old trains and running special journeys, it helps preserve Thai rail history. This event followed previous steam train trips held on National Day and King Rama V Memorial Day, both of which were also successful.

The steam locomotive used in the June 3 celebration is one of only a few still active in the country. It was carefully maintained and prepared for this special trip. The train added a unique charm to the celebration and gave passengers a peaceful ride filled with memories.

The use of a steam train also supports the idea of slow and sustainable travel. This kind of tourism allows visitors to enjoy the journey itself, not just the destination. It also helps reduce environmental impact compared to high-speed or air travel.

With the success of this event, the SRT is planning more trips like this in the future. These events will highlight different regions of Thailand and support local economies through increased tourism. Travelers can expect more chances to explore Thailand in a traditional and meaningful way.
