An Indian all-party parliamentary delegation met with leaders of major political parties in Malaysia on Monday to seek support for India’s fight against terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. The meeting took place in Kuala Lumpur and involved members of Malaysia’s Democratic Action Party (DAP) and People’s Justice Party (PKR), to which Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim belongs.

The Indian delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, explained India’s firm stance on zero tolerance toward terrorism in all forms. They emphasized the importance of Operation Sindoor, a military action launched to counter cross-border terrorism. The Malaysian leaders expressed their support for India’s position and the right to defend itself against terrorist attacks.

The delegation discussed the Indus Water Treaty and India’s updated policy on terrorism, which considers any terrorist act against India as an act of war. Malaysia showed readiness to support India’s efforts at the Financial Action Task Force, which monitors terror financing worldwide. The Indian parliamentarians received a patient and positive hearing from the Malaysian parties.

BJP MP Hemang Joshi shared that Pakistan’s role in the Pahalgam incident was discussed with Malaysian leaders along with evidence related to Operation Sindoor. Malaysia clearly stated that terrorism and violence are not supported by Islam and backed India’s right to self-defense. Malaysia’s Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, M. Kulasegaran, described Operation Sindoor as restrained and expressed concern over the potential for conflict between two nuclear neighbors, India and Pakistan.

Kulasegaran said Malaysia condemns cross-border terrorism anywhere in the world and shared sympathy for victims of recent terrorist attacks. He also mentioned the historic ties between India and Malaysia, noting that over two million Indian-origin people live in Malaysia, strengthening the bond between the two nations.

The Indian delegation’s visit to Malaysia is part of a wider diplomatic effort to gather international backing against terrorism originating from Pakistan. The team had earlier visited Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Indonesia. Congress leader Salman Khurshid said Malaysia is ready to consider India’s concerns seriously, joining other countries that have responded positively during the tour.

The delegation included MPs from BJP, Trinamool Congress, CPI(M), senior Congress leaders, and a former Indian ambassador. India’s strategy to highlight Pakistan’s role in terrorism and seek global support is gaining momentum with Malaysia’s backing, further solidifying India’s position on the international stage.
