Attorney General Pam Bondi has been one of the most recognizable conservative legal figures in the United States over the last two decades. Serving as the 37th Attorney General of Florida from 2011 to 2019, Bondi was the first woman to hold the position in the state’s history. She built a reputation as a tough-on-crime prosecutor and later as a loyal political ally to former President Donald Trump. Her career has spanned state-level law enforcement, national politics, and lobbying work in Washington, D.C.

Pamela Jo Bondi was born on November 17, 1965, in Tampa, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. Before entering the political arena, she served for more than a decade as a prosecutor in Hillsborough County, Florida. There, she handled major criminal cases, including drug trafficking, murder, and elder abuse, which laid the foundation for her statewide role.

As Florida’s Attorney General, Bondi prioritized several key issues. One of her earliest and most publicized efforts was cracking down on pill mills, which were a major contributor to the opioid crisis in Florida. She worked to strengthen regulations and enforcement against illegal pain clinics. Bondi was also active in advocating for laws to combat human trafficking, pushing for tougher sentencing and more protective services for victims. Her office played a role in numerous consumer protection lawsuits and campaigns against scams targeting the elderly and vulnerable populations.

Bondi took a national spotlight in 2012 when she led Florida’s legal challenge against the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. She joined a coalition of states arguing that the healthcare law was unconstitutional, specifically its requirement for individuals to purchase insurance. Although the Supreme Court ultimately upheld the law, Bondi’s stance solidified her reputation among conservatives as a defender of states’ rights and limited federal government.

Her national political profile grew even further during and after her time in office. Bondi was a vocal supporter of Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign and served as a member of his transition team. In 2020, she joined Trump’s legal defense team during his first impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate. She also briefly worked in the Trump administration as a special advisor focused on communications related to impeachment efforts.

Bondi has been no stranger to controversy. In 2013, her office declined to pursue fraud charges against Trump University shortly after receiving a $25,000 campaign donation from the Trump Foundation. The contribution later raised ethical questions and was ruled an illegal political donation from a charitable organization. Bondi denied any wrongdoing, but the incident followed her throughout her political career. Critics accused her of having a conflict of interest, while her supporters argued it was a politically motivated narrative.

After leaving the Attorney General’s office in 2019, Bondi joined the influential lobbying firm Ballard Partners in Washington, D.C., where she continued her involvement in Republican politics and policy discussions. Her experience in law, state governance, and national political campaigns made her a sought-after commentator on conservative media outlets.

Attorney General Pam Bondi remains a notable figure in U.S. legal and political circles. Her career reflects a consistent focus on conservative legal principles, including opposition to federal overreach, promotion of law and order, and defense of individual choice in matters such as healthcare and public safety. While she no longer holds public office, Bondi continues to influence political debates and legal discussions across the country.
