Just after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on the Kashmir situation and Operation Sindoor, tensions between India and Pakistan escalated with reports of drone sightings and explosions in several areas of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

On Monday evening, Modi addressed the nation for the first time since India launched Operation Sindoor in response to a deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. During his speech, he warned Pakistan about nuclear threats, stating that India would not tolerate any form of nuclear blackmail. However, right after his address, unusual events unfolded in areas near Jammu, Kashmir, and Punjab.

At around 8 PM, shortly after Modi’s speech, drones were reported over Samba, a district in Jammu, and Jalandhar, a city in Punjab. Authorities took immediate action, enforcing a blackout in several areas, including the region around Pathankot. Residents reported seeing a red streak in the sky and hearing explosion sounds, which appeared to be linked to India’s air defense systems being activated.

Footage from the Sambha region, including near the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route, showed signs of explosions in the sky. Sources confirmed that India’s defense forces fired at the drones. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the presence of the drones prompted India’s military to remain on high alert.

In Jalandhar, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Agnihotri confirmed the drone sightings near the Suranasi Army Base and stated that precautionary measures, including the temporary blackout, were being put in place. However, he reassured the public that the situation was under control and urged citizens not to panic. He also emphasized that the armed forces were on alert.

In Hoshiarpur district, a series of explosions were heard near Dasuya. The district’s Deputy Commissioner, Ashika, confirmed that several explosions were reported, and local authorities had coordinated with the Indian military. They confirmed that operations were underway to detect and neutralize the drones. As a result, blackout measures were imposed in Dasuya and Mukeria areas.

The local administration urged the public not to fall for rumors and advised them to rely on official sources for information. This incident added a new layer of tension to the already volatile situation between India and Pakistan. It also prompted heightened security measures across India.

The sequence of events unfolded just hours after Modi’s speech, where he issued a stark warning to Pakistan, emphasizing that India would not engage in talks or trade with a nation that supports terrorism. He also made it clear that Pakistan’s role in supporting terrorism would lead to its own downfall.

Modi stressed that India’s military is always prepared and that the country’s defense forces are ready to respond if necessary. He assured the nation that India is prepared for any eventuality, whether in the air, on land, or at sea. Modi specifically mentioned that India would not tolerate any attempts of “nuclear blackmail” and that the armed forces are ready to protect the nation’s sovereignty at all costs.

Earlier, Modi had made it clear that India would not engage in discussions with Pakistan unless they addressed key issues like the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the return of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He also said that there would be no talks on Kashmir unless Pakistan demonstrated a genuine willingness to end its support for terrorism.

The recent events are likely to increase fears of further escalation in the region. The presence of drones near military installations and the immediate response by India’s defense systems show the growing tension between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. This also signals that both countries are preparing for any scenario that might unfold in the coming days.

India has increased its military readiness, and the public is urged to remain cautious and aware of their surroundings. The escalation of hostilities raises questions about the future of peace in the region, and the international community is closely watching the situation.
