A massive eruption took place at one of the world’s most active volcanoes, Kilauea, in Hawaii, USA. On Sunday, May 25, at around 9:45 p.m. local time, the volcano spewed lava over 1,000 feet into the sky. That is about the same height as a 100-story building. The fiery display lit up the night sky and drew large crowds of tourists to the area.

Many people rushed to see the glowing red lava shoot up from the volcano. The heat, light, and sound created an awe-inspiring sight. Photos and videos showed huge fireballs rising into the air. The eruption happened inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which is on the Big Island. The park is about 200 miles from Honolulu, the state’s capital. Tourists and locals gathered at safe spots to watch nature’s power in action.

The agency that watches the volcano said that along with the lava, the eruption sent up a large plume. This plume reached more than 5,000 feet above the volcano’s summit. It carried ash, volcanic rocks, and sharp glass strands. These thin strands are called “Pele’s hair,” named after the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes. They are formed when lava splashes into the air and cools quickly. The thin glass can float in the air and land miles away.

The experts warned people to be careful. The sharp glass and ash can harm your eyes, skin, and lungs. Breathing in volcanic ash can make people sick, especially those with asthma or other health problems. It can also damage cars, homes, and water supplies. That’s why both residents and visitors were told to stay alert and follow safety advice. They were asked not to go too close to the eruption site.

Kilauea is one of six active volcanoes in Hawaii. It is also one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Since December 2024, it has been showing more signs of activity. It has been sending lava fountains into the air often. This latest event was the biggest in recent months. The fiery display lit up the sky and was seen from miles away. People shared photos on social media, amazed by the power of nature.

The volcano’s activity is closely tracked by scientists. They use machines and cameras to watch its behavior. This helps them give warnings early if things get worse. Though the eruption stopped shortly after it began, experts say more eruptions could happen. The volcano is still active, and things can change fast. People living nearby have been told to keep emergency kits ready. The local government is working to make sure roads and shelters are safe.

While the eruption was dangerous, it also brought in many tourists. People flew in from other parts of the world to see the glowing lava. The national park remained open, but with warnings in place. Park rangers asked visitors to stay on marked paths and not go too close. They also told people to wear masks to avoid breathing in ash.

This eruption showed once again how powerful and beautiful nature can be. While it brought danger, it also brought people together in wonder. The light of the lava, the sound of the ground rumbling, and the sight of fire touching the sky made for an unforgettable moment. But it also served as a warning: volcanoes are not to be taken lightly. They can change in minutes, and people must always be ready.

As scientists keep watching Kilauea, more updates will come. For now, the volcano is calm again, but its fire still burns below the surface.
