Google Launches AI Mode to Reinvent Smarter Web Search

Google has launched a new “AI Mode” inside its popular search engine. This big change lets users get answers from an AI chatbot, instead of just seeing a list of web links.

The feature was announced by Google CEO Sundar Pichai at the company’s yearly I/O developer event. He shared the news at Google’s headquarters in Silicon Valley.

“This is a big change in how we search,” Pichai said. “I’ve been using it a lot, and it has totally changed how I find things online.”

AI Mode is now available to all users in the United States. Google plans to bring it to more countries soon.

To try it, users just need to open the search page. There, they can tap the new AI Mode tab. This takes them to Google’s Gemini chatbot.

The chatbot can give smarter answers. It uses what Google calls “advanced reasoning.” This means users can ask harder questions and get full replies. For example, someone can ask for help planning a trip, or how to fix a device, and get a full answer — not just a list of websites.

This move is Google’s biggest answer yet to the rise of tools like ChatGPT. That AI chatbot, made by OpenAI, has become very popular in recent years.

Google has been working on AI for a long time. But now, it is putting that work into its core products. This is both a smart move and a risky one.

Search ads make Google billions of dollars each year. But if people stop clicking links, it could hurt profits.

That’s why Google is also rolling out new ways to earn money with AI. At the event, it shared news about a high-end plan called “AI Ultra.”

This plan costs $249 and gives users access to Google’s best AI tools. It also offers the highest usage limits across all Google apps.

With these moves, Google is betting big on AI. It hopes to lead in a world where people talk to computers, not just type into them.

But Google also faces tough challenges. In the U.S., courts have ruled that Google holds an illegal monopoly. This applies to both its search engine and its ad business.

Regulators in other countries are also looking into Google’s power.

Even so, Google keeps pushing forward. At the same event, the company showed off some new products and tools.

One of them is a pair of smart glasses. They run on a system called Android XR. The glasses use AI to help people in real time.

Google also revealed a new AI model called “V3.” This tool can make realistic videos. The videos look real enough to be used in movies or ads.

With all these updates, Google is trying to stay ahead. The tech world is moving fast, and AI is at the center of it.

AI Mode could change how billions of people use the web. It marks a shift from old search tools to new, smart assistants.

Google is clear about one thing: the future of search is here. And it talks back.
