Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos have been announced as the primary donors for the 2026 Met Gala, Vogue confirmed Monday, Nov. 17. Next year’s event will celebrate the museum’s “Costume Art” exhibition.
Saint Laurent and Condé Nast will also contribute to the gala, which funds the Met’s Costume Institute. The exhibition will run from May 10, 2026, to Jan. 10, 2027. The 2026 Met Gala will be the first for Vogue Editor-in-Chief Chloe Malle, who recently succeeded Anna Wintour after 37 years.
The couple first attended the Met Gala together in 2024, when the theme was “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard. Sánchez Bezos wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown with a floral, “shattered glass”-inspired skirt, while Bezos opted for a classic black tuxedo.
Bezos and Sánchez’s relationship became public in January 2019, shortly after Bezos announced his divorce from MacKenzie Scott. At the same time, Sánchez Bezos was divorcing her husband, Patrick Whitesell, after 13 years of marriage. Sources told PEOPLE the pair initially formed a professional partnership and gradually developed a romantic relationship.
The 2026 Met Gala will take place on May 4, 2026, in New York City.
