Duchess Meghan is gradually returning to the spotlight on her own terms. The Duchess of Sussex appears on the cover of Harper’s BAZAAR’s December 2025/January 2026 Art Issue, on newsstands December 2, and shares insights about pursuing a life and career that feel authentic.
“There’s no such thing as perfect,” Meghan said in the interview. “I, too, get to make mistakes … there’s also not a lot of fun in trying to be perfect. So why try to do that if you want to have fun?”
In recent months, Meghan has been enjoying life, making her Paris Fashion Week debut, attending the World Series with Prince Harry to support her home team, and joining star-studded events, including Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday celebration in Los Angeles.
Netflix announced that her highly anticipated holiday special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, will release on December 3. These projects reflect freedoms she gained after stepping back from royal duties with Prince Harry in January 2020.
“I like the community of work and the connection,” Meghan said about being a working woman. “A lot of it is in my DNA … when people start to see your work ethic and understand how dedicated you are — that’s how I show up everywhere. Whether it’s potlucks at my kids’ school, helping a friend, or in my business.”
Since leaving the royal family, Meghan and Harry have taken control of their narrative. They launched the nonprofit Archewell Foundation in 2020, signed deals with Spotify and Netflix, and pursued other creative ventures.
Meghan also emphasizes the importance of keeping work enjoyable. “I don’t like things that feel overly realized,” she said. “If you overwork the dough, it’s not going to rise. Sometimes people stress so much that they lose the fun of why they are doing something.”
She hopes her children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, see the value of courage and fearlessness in her work. “I hope they see the value of being brave … When you’re young, you are more fearless. As we get older, we lose some of that.”
Meghan is also exploring acting again. Reports say she will appear as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Close Personal Friends, starring Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding.
The Duchess shared her deep connection with Prince Harry, saying, “No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he’s always going to have my back.” She described his support as playful and inspiring, which influences every part of their lives, including business. “Even in business, I want us to play, have fun, and explore creatively,” she added.
Meghan also highlighted her friendship with tennis star Serena Williams. “We love a good mimosa,” Williams said. “We could talk for a hundred hours, and it feels like 10 minutes go by. It’s like we never stop smiling.” The two met at a Super Bowl party more than a decade ago and bonded over their shared sense of humor.
The Harper’s BAZAAR cover story captures Meghan’s personal and professional growth. It reflects her journey of embracing life beyond royal duties, balancing family, career, and the freedom to enjoy her achievements.
