Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway have reunited in the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, slated for release in May 2026. The Oscar-winning actors reprise their iconic antagonistic roles, delighting fans of the original 2006 comedy.
Returning cast members include Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, with Kenneth Branagh joining as Miranda Priestly’s new husband. The film will also feature Simone Ashley, Rachel Bloom, and Lucy Liu, alongside reported cameos from Lady Gaga and Sydney Sweeney.
Directed again by David Frankel, the sequel explores Priestly navigating the collapse of the magazine industry while rebuilding her relationship with Emily (Blunt), now the head of a luxury brand and its advertising operations.
The original The Devil Wears Prada, based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, grossed over $326 million worldwide and later inspired a West End musical. Blunt reflected on the first film, noting its “deep emotional roots” for her and Tucci, who later became her brother-in-law.
Priestly’s character, widely believed to be inspired by former Vogue editor Anna Wintour, continues to captivate audiences. Wintour recently praised Streep’s performance, calling it “full of humour and wit” and acknowledging the talent of the entire cast.
Filming has taken place across locations from Brooklyn to Milan, attracting fans and photographers globally. The sequel also coincides with a busy year for Hathaway, who will star in projects including Mother Mary, Verity, Flowervale Street, and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 joins a summer lineup of blockbuster sequels, including Scary Movie 6, Toy Story 5, Minions 3, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
