The US Secret Service has arrested a man near the White House after discovering several firearms inside a vehicle and hearing an alleged threat against President Donald Trump. The arrest took place late Thursday after officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked near the presidential residence. Authorities said the suspect told officers that voices had instructed him to travel to Washington and kill the president.

The suspect was identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos. According to the Department of Homeland Security, officers approached him after observing unusual behaviour inside the parked vehicle. During the conversation, he allegedly described hearing voices telling him to come to the capital and carry out an attack against Trump. The officers then searched the vehicle and discovered that it had previously been reported stolen.

The search uncovered three firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition. Authorities said the weapons included multiple types of firearms, although they did not report that shots had been fired during the incident. The suspect was taken into custody and charged. He remains in the custody of the US Marshals Service while the legal process continues.

Homeland Security officials described the arrest as an example of the importance of security patrols around the White House. Secretary Markwayne Mullin praised the Secret Service officers for identifying the suspicious vehicle and responding before anyone was harmed. The White House declined to comment on the case and directed questions to the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service.

The department also said the suspect had entered the United States through Texas in March 2024 and was living in the country without legal immigration status. That information was included in the official statement, but the central investigation concerns the alleged threat, the stolen vehicle and the firearms discovered during the search.

The incident comes after several other arrests involving people accused of threatening Trump or members of his family since he returned to office. Security around the White House remains a major responsibility for federal agencies, particularly because the area receives large numbers of visitors and is close to important government buildings.

The suspect has been charged, but the allegations have not been tested in court. Investigators will need to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged threat, how the firearms were obtained and whether the suspect intended to carry out an attack. The arrest prevented an immediate security risk, while the legal process will determine the outcome of the case.
